Why Is It difficult to Mount A TV on A Brick Wall?

It is hard to mount a TV or wall bracket onto a brick wall because brick walls have no wood studs in them. This means there’s a lot more drilling and manual labor involved.

A TV wall mount on a brick wall needs to be secured in place. This ensures the flat-screen TV will stay on the wall and be safe from the risk of falling.

There are many different types of brick walls people install mounting brackets and a TV center too. You can install them on a brick fireplace, a statement wall, or even on a brick chimney.

Best Wall Mount for Studless Wall

wall mount

Studless walls require wall mounts that can be adjusted so that in case the TV is not hung at a level, that can be fixed.

Unlike drywall, you cannot repair holes in studless walls that easily. Hence, people are apprehensive of ruining the appearance of their walls.

Once they pick a place and drill holes into it, they prefer to stick to that location for the mounting bracket.

Here are some of the best wall mounts for studless walls:

Full Motion Wall Mount

Full motion wall mounts allow the user to adjust the TV angle in tilt and swivel mounts.

It also gives room for the person to extend or retract the TV based on the viewing angle.

You can easily adjust the angle without removing the TV from the mounting bracket hook and setting it up in a new spot.

Tilt Wall Mount

Tilt wall mounts are a good choice for mounting a TV to a studless wall. This is because they have the option to extend and retract the TV as well as tilt the screen.

This helps balance the TV’s weight and anchor its hold on the wall.

It can also aid in making minor adjustments to the TV’s angle once it has been mounted.

How to Mount a TV on a Brick Wall?

Mounting a TV on a brick chimney or fireplace is a lot easier than it sounds.

As long as you have the right mounting hardware and instructions, you should be good to go.

Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to mount TV brackets to brick surfaces.

Step 1: Find The Location

The first step is to find the location you want to mount the TV on.

To do this, determine the best viewing angle in the room.

Measure your TV and make an outline on the wall horizontally with painter’s tape.

Make sure this outline is leveled and determine the center point. Make a new mark if the old one is not leveled or parallel to the floor.

Determine the four holes from the back porch of the TV according to the VESA pattern depending on the TV size, height, and weight.

Step 2: Use the Hammer Drill

Mark the places to drill the holes with a permanent marker. Position the special masonry drill bit of the hammer drill against the wall and begin to drill.

Make sure the drilled mounting holes are as big as the wall anchors or supplied screws. The drilled hole has to fit the anchors perfectly hence select a drill bit of equal diameter.

Add the toggles, bolts, or screws to check if they fit and proceed onto the next step.

Step 3: Install the Mounting Bracket

Place the wall anchors in the holes and install the two mounting brackets of the new flat-screen TV. Screw-in the first screw on the top edge of the mounting holes of the TV mount.

Make sure to tighten screws or bolts diagonally or in the way that makes the most sense. In case you are mounting the TV on the mortar consider using a horizontal mortar joint.

Step 4: Attach the Mounting Brackets Hook

On the back porch of the TV, you will now attach the mounting brackets hook. Remember to follow the TV’s instruction manual.

This is because most issues with recently mounted TVs occur when people hang a TV without paying attention to the mounting brackets hook.

Step 5: Mount the TV to the Wall

With the help of a friend, lift the TV and mount it onto the mounting bracket. Make sure the power cord and power plug are out of the way.

Any additional wires that had been attached to the TV and needed a power outlet should be properly managed.
