As discussed above, swivel TV mounts offer you a full range of motion options. These include:

  • Pushing and pulling the TV to adjust viewing distance
  • Adjusting the angle of the TV for sideways viewing

Swivel TV mounts follow a range of specifications. Before purchasing them, you have to be sure of the size and weight of your TV. You also need to check the VESA specifications of your TV. All these factors will help you determine if your TV is suitable for the wall mount or not.

Step # 1 - Catalog the parts

catalogue parts

The first thing you have to do is to catalog the parts. The wall mount comes with all the hardware you need to install it. These include:

  • Screws of different types
  • Washers to go with the screws
  • Wall anchors
  • Wall piece of the mount
  • TV bracket

Each one of these parts has a respective serial number which you can check in the manual. The manual also has additional information such as the VESA specifications and the weight limitations.

Step # 2 - Select a space where you want to mount the TV

mount space

After you catalog the parts, you need to choose the space where you want to mount your TV. Some popular options include: above a fireplace and inside a niche. After you have picked out where you want to mount the TV, you need to find the wall studs.

Wall studs are pieces of wood that help bring the wall in form. These are in a frame and installing the mount on these ensures that the mount has a solid fit to the wall. There are different methods to find wall studs.

We recommend that you use an electronic stud finder

After you have found the studs, you need to mark the space with a pencil. Some wall mounts come with a mounting template. It helps you identify where you need to put the holes. Then, drill holes into these spaces. Screws will go into these spaces.

Step # 3 - Attach the mount to the wall

Next, you have to attach the mount to the wall. Make sure that you hold the mount straight and level. We recommend that you get the help of a friend to hold the mount. You can check the level of the mount by using a bubble mount

Hold the mount in place and fix it in place by using the screws. Insert the screws in the pilot holes you drilled previously. Then tighten them using a power tool or a screwdriver.

Then, you need to make adjustments. Check the balance of the mount using a bubble level. Then tighten or loosen the screws accordingly. Lastly, you need to unscrew the locking screws at the end of the arm and insert the rod.

Step # 4 - Fix the bracket to the TV

Next, you need to attach the bracket to the TV. There are usually two separate pieces that fix the TV. You need to keep them at a manageable height as they will affect how high your TV is.

You just need to place the brackets on the back of the TV and fix them using the screws. Then you need to tighten the screws.

Step # 5 - Attach your TV to the mount

You might need assistance with this step. Grab the TV by the corners and lift it. Align the wall piece and the TV bracket with each other and carefully attach the TV. Then tighten the locking screws you previously removed. These make sure that your TV stays on the mount.

Then you need to attach the moveable brackets that are on the TV bracket. There are two of them at the bottom end of the TV bracket. You need to hold them in place using the screws. M6 screws are used here too.

Check if the mount is working properly by pushing and adjusting the angles of your screen. Then plug all the wires in and your TV is ready for the optimal viewing experience.

TV mounting gives you an elegant and aesthetic view of your screen. It also saves space in your living room and gives you some options to work around your living room’s design.

To maximize your viewing experience, here are some factors you need to keep in mind when wall mounting your TV:

  • A good mounting space is crucial for you. Avoid installation of your wall mount opposite a window. The sunlight can wash out the screen during the daytime.
  • If you use a soundbar, we recommend that you place them beneath the TV. Many soundbars come with mounting brackets so you can mount them beneath the TV.
  • When you purchase a wall mount, check which type of VESA mount is it. It will tell you if your TV and the mount are compatible or not.
  • If you install an OLED TV, keep in mind that its VESA holes aren’t centered. They are further down the panel, so you need to be mindful of the height of your brackets.
  • Lastly, you also need to be careful of cable management. You can bind the cables in a neat bunch using zip ties. You can also hide them using plastic covers.
