Buyer’s Guide

65 inch lg led tv

It’s understandable to be confused when you go out or go online to look for an appropriate TV mount.

There are TV mounts of all sizes, shapes, and functionalities out there. The sheer amount of variety in the market is enough to make your head spin.

Luckily, there are some factors you can think about to reach an informed decision about which TV mount to buy

These factors are:

Price

You think about the price of pretty much any product you buy; It’s the same with TV mounts.

You don’t want to buy the cheapest mount out there because then, you can risk the mount being cheaply made. If that’s the case, it may become useless in a few months.

So, you can’t get the cheapest TV mount out there? Should you aim high then?

Well, not necessarily. You don’t want to go cheap but you don’t want to burn a hole in your pocket either.

It’s all about finding that sweet spot.

You want it to fulfill all of your needs and also be well-constructed. That’s pretty much all you need.

So, don’t go for an expensive TV mount that has features you will never use. For example, don’t opt for an expensive full-motion mount when you don’t have enough space in your living room to use it properly.

TV Size and Weight

As you probably guessed, the size and weight of your TV will play an immense role in the TV mount you choose to get.

65-inch televisions typically weigh between 40 and 65 pounds.

Hence, it’s a good idea to get a TV mount that can support at least 70 pounds of weight, just to be on the safe side.

As long as you get a strong TV mount that can hold that much, you’re pretty much good to go when it comes to weight.

When it comes to size, you need to think about the distance between the mounting holes in the back panel of your TV.

This distance between your mounting holes is referred to as your TV’s VESA measurements.

So, how are VESA measurements used exactly? Well…

Compatibility

VESA standards were developed to make the lives of both television manufacturers as well as consumers easier.

Most modern televisions as well as TV mounts that are released today are VESA compatible.

This means that they comply with the universally agreed upon distances for specific sizes and weights of TVs.

The typical VESA measurements of a 65-inch TV can be either 400 x 400 mm or 600 x 400 mm.

Thus, a TV mount that is “compatible” with your TV will be able to support both of these measurements.

TV mounts that support 600 x 400 mm are typically more expensive.

Hence, it’s a good idea to measure the distance between the mounting holes at the back of your TV. There’s a high chance that the measurement might be 400 x 400 mm.

If that is indeed the case, you can opt for a relatively cheaper TV mount that supports 400 x 400 mm but does not support 600 x 400 mm.

Important note: LG OLED TVs are actually not VESA compatible. In this case, you can either find a mount that is specifically designed for LG OLED TVs or you can opt for a VESA adapter for your TV.

A VESA adapter allows a VESA-non-compliant TV to fit onto a VESA-compliant mount

Mount Type

Next up, you must think about the type of mount you want to get.

Mount types typically differ due to the level of flexibility and motion they offer.

Full-motion mounts, as their name suggests, are designed to have the highest level of motion possible. They are great for large spaces and rooms that have multiple different viewing angles.

Ceiling mounts are attached to your ceiling and suspend your TV in the air. Most ceiling mounts allow you to rotate your TV a full 360 degrees. Ceiling mounts are fairly uncommon and can add a unique look to your living room.

Tilting TV mounts don’t offer a ton in terms of the motion. You can only adjust the tilt angle with a tilting mount which is great for glare reduction. Most tilting mounts allow you to adjust the tilt angle up to 5 degrees back and 15 degrees forward.

Fixed mounts don’t offer any type of motion. They are the most inexpensive mount types and definitely the ones to get if you intend to watch from a single, primary angle.

Other mount types include swivel mounts and articulating mounts which offer a wide array of motion, similar to the full-motion mount, but not as much.

Build Quality

This is true for pretty much any product you buy but you have to ensure that the mount you get is well-constructed before you buy it.

We briefly touched upon this above but it requires its own section because it’s very important.

Why?

Well, a cheaply constructed mount doesn’t just mean you have wasted your money on a terrible mount. It also means that you have now endangered your television.

Well-constructed mounts firmly hold your expensive television in place for years; Cheaply constructed mounts, not so much.

As a result, your TV could fall on the floor a few months after you purchased your TV mount. Let’s just hope your screen doesn’t break.

Final Verdict

With that, we’re at the conclusion of our post for the best TV mounts for LG OLED 65-Inch televisions.

After days of deliberation, we have concluded that the ECHOGEAR Full-Motion TV Wall Mount is the best of the bunch.

It’s not as expensive as the Vogel mounts but arguably offers the same level of security and flexibility.

Which mount do you think is the best? Let us know in the comments below.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Is it Safe to Wall Mount a 65-Inch TV?

Yes, of course. Not only is it safe to mount a 65-inch television but you can also even mount bigger televisions than that all the way up to 105 inches.

What matters, however, is that the TV mount you get for it is strong enough to hold a 65-inch TV. Obviously, if you mount a 65-inch TV onto a mount that’s meant for 32-inch TVs, it won’t end well.

  • How Much Weight can a TV Wall Mount Securely Hold?

Obviously, this will differ from mount to mount.

A mount that’s meant for bigger TVs can hold a tremendous weight of above 100 pounds. On the other hand, smaller mounts can only hold 70 – 80 pounds.

In summary, again, you just need to worry about buying the appropriate mount for the television you have.

  • How do I Know if a Certain Wall Mount is Compatible with My TV?

The first thing you have to do is turn your TV over and measure the distances between the mounting holes at the back.

For a 65-inch television, the mounting holes will either form a square or a rectangle. If it’s a rectangle, then the VESA measurement is 400 x 400 mm. If it’s a rectangle, the VESA measurement is 600 x 400 mm.

However, use a measuring tape, just to be sure. Once you know the correct VESA measurements, you can find wall mounts that support those VESA measurements.

  • Are All Mounts VESA Compatible?

No, not all mounts are VESA compatible.

However, all reputable brands tend to put out TV mounts that comply with VESA standards.

Mounts that don’t comply with them are only of two categories:

    1. Mounts that cater specially designed televisions.
    2. Mounts that are knockoffs and thus, poorly designed.

  • Are All TVs VESA Compatible?

Most modern televisions these days are all VESA compatible.

Occasionally, however, you will run into a TV that may not be VESA compatible. LG OLED TVs are actually NOT VESA compatible.

You can, however, mount it to a VESA compatible mount using a VESA adapter as we mentioned earlier as well.

  • What Are Some Typical VESA Measurements?

All of the common VESA measurements that you will come across when you browse different TV sizes are:

    • 75 mm x 75 mm (75 mm = 2.95 inches)
    • 100 mm x 100 mm (100mm = 3.94 inches)
    • 200 mm x 200 mm (200 mm = 7.87 inches)
    • 400 mm x 400 mm (400 mm = 15.7 inches)
    • 600 mm x 400 mm (600 mm = 23.6 inches)
    • 800 mm x 400 mm (800 mm = 31.5 inches)

If the holes on the back of your TV have any of these spacings, your TV is VESA compliant.
