We’re super excited for this review because we’ve been wanting to test Barkan TV mounts for a while now.
Now that we’ve had some months to play with it, we have a lot of things to say about it.
In this post, we’ll discuss its strengths, weaknesses, features, and benefits. We’ll also suggest some alternatives that you can check out.
Who knows? You may find that the alternatives better suit your needs.
Quick Summary of the Main Product
Obviously, the main reason why we were so excited to test out this mount was because of its incredibly unique design. Some people may look at this design and think it’s all flash and no substance. However, that’s really not the case.
The unique, patented design has been smartly made so that the mount can fit onto flat and curved TVs as well as TVs with special structures on the back. This makes this mount extremely versatile as you can get it for a wide variety of different TVs.
Not only that but it can support an extremely wide range of TV sizes as well; one of the widest ranges we have seen from any TV mount. You can use this mount to mount TVs ranging from 13 inches all the way up to 80 inches.
It has a maximum weight capacity of 110 pounds which we do feel is slightly underwhelming. Sure, you’ll be able to mount any newer 80-inch television onto it.
However, if you have an older 80-inch television, there’s a chance that it may be too heavy for this mount. We highly recommend that if you have an older TV, you should check its weight before you buy this mount for it.
Features and Benefits
Fast Assembly and Installation
Consumers are often overwhelmed by the assembly and installation process of TV mounts.
In fact, many of them pay hundreds of dollars to experts so that they can install TV mounts for them.
The Barkan TV Mount features an intuitive design that is extremely easy to assemble.
All you have to do is:
- Attach the adapters of the mount to the rear side of your TV.
- Install the bracket onto your wall.
- Snap your TV onto the bracket.
And that’s all there is to it.
We know how frustrating it can be to try to figure out confusing instructions on certain TV mounts. We know we’ve done our fair share of that across our years of testing.
So, when a mount like this comes along that’s so easy to install, it really is a breath of fresh air.
Of course, the mount is fully VESA compliant.
We wouldn’t be talking about it if it wasn’t.
The range of TVs that this mount supports is astounding. You can use it to fit TVs that range from 13 inches to 80 inches.
It supports the following VESA patterns:
- 75 x 75 mm
- 100 x 100 mm
- 100 x 200 mm
- 200 x 100 mm
- 200 x 200 mm
- 300 x 300 mm
- 300 x 400 mm
- 400 x 200 mm
- 400 x 300 mm
- 400 x 400 mm
- 600 x 300 mm
- 600 x 400 mm
It also supports non-VESA-compliant measurements up to 600 x 400 mm.
Wide Range of Motion
All this talk of its unique design and ease of installation, we haven’t even gotten to the fact that it’s a full-motion mount.
That means it provides the widest range of motion out of all other mount types.
You can rotate it near the wall up to 180 degrees, fold it a whole 360 degrees, swivel it near the connection plate up to 180 degrees and even tilt it up to 10 degrees.
It’s important to note that you don’t need any external tool or gadget to move it about. All you need to do is give it a little push.
We’ve tested a fair share of full-motion mounts that are extremely rigid to move. It can be the most awful feeling to get a full-motion mount that is difficult to move.
Not only does it feel awful but it’s also time-consuming. You may find that you have to put in a ton of force to move it and then it moves too much.
However, with this mount, the movement is smooth like silk. You just need to push it a bit to make it move and once you’ve found the desired position, it firmly locks into place and doesn’t move.
Many people will look at this mount and think of the design as just a gimmick.
Those people would be wrong though as there’s a lot of thought that has gone into this mount’s design.
It’s not designed the way it is just so it can look unique or “cool”. Instead, it has a very practical purpose: To fit as many different types of TVs as possible.
You can use this mount with flat-back panel TVs, curved TVs, and even TVs that are uniquely shaped and have special structures at their back.
Why would you spend $200+ on a specially-made mount for your unique TV when you can just get the Barkan TV Mount for it at a much lower price?
All Barkan TV mounts are retro-fitted with a fall-proof system which ensures that your TV does not disengage from the mount under any circumstances.
This makes them highly secure and you can sleep easy at night knowing that your TV won’t end up on the floor any time soon.
Factors to Consider Before you Decide to Buy Mounting Dream UL Listed TV Mount
As for the price, the Barkan TV Mount is priced quite fairly and similar to other full-motion mounts that you would find on the market.
However, we would argue that even though the price of the Barkan TV Mount is the same as most full-motion mounts, it’s still a better choice overall.
That’s because the level of value you get with the Barkan TV mount for the same price is much higher than most other full-motion mounts.
TV Size and Weight
As mentioned earlier, the Barkan TV mount has one of the widest ranges we have ever seen in terms of TV sizes.
You can mount a TV as small as 13 inches onto it or you can have something as big as 80 inches on it too. It can do it all.
It has a maximum weight capacity of 110 pounds.
The fact that it can fit so many different types of TVs of many different sizes makes it a great contender for people that like to switch TVs often.
If you’re someone that wants to regularly upgrade their TV, this mount can be an awesome choice since it’ll fit them all.
You won’t have to constantly spend money on newer mounts every time you upgrade your TV.
Here’s another aspect where the Barkan TV Mount’s versatility shines through. Not only is it VESA compliant, it also fits non-VESA-compliant TVs.
That’s something you don’t see a lot of in many mounts these days.
As mentioned earlier, it supports VESA patterns ranging from 75 x 75 mm to 600 x 400mm.
Of course, since the TV size range for the mount is so wide, the VESA pattern range will be similarly wide.
It’s one of the widest we have seen in a while.
It’s a full-motion mount so you should only get it if you have a use for it.
There’s really no point getting a full-motion mount if you won’t use most of its features for the majority of the time you have it.
Hence, if you have a large space or a space that has many different viewing angles, then this mount is definitely a great option that you should get.
However, if you have a cramped space with not a lot of wiggle room, then you may find that this mount is not a suitable choice for you.

#2: Best Tilting Alternative - Mounting Dream UL-Listed Tilt Mount Review
In many cases, people don’t want a whole lot of motion options when it comes to TV mounts.
There’s a high chance that you may need it for a smaller space where all that fancy movement wouldn’t even be possible.
In that case, this tilting mount from Mounting Dream can be a wonderful option as it’s well-made and constructed from high-quality materials.
Factors to Consider Before you Decide to Buy Mounting Dream UL-Listed Tilt Mount

Best Tilting Alternative
The best tilting alternative to the Barkan TV Mount is the Mounting Dream UL-Listed Tilt Mount thanks to its sturdy construction and ease of use. You don’t need any external tool to adjust the tilt angle with ease.
Naturally, you don’t want to spend your entire bank account on a TV mount.
TV mounts can be as expensive as $500 but do you really want to spend all that money on one?
The truth is that you really don’t and it’s not even necessary.
Most mounts that are that expensive often have excessive features that you might never use. In many cases, you may use some features that seem cool initially but after a few months, you’ll completely forget they exist.
Was it really worth it?
Instead, you need to look at what you need and then let your wallet do the talking.
For example, if you live in a cramped apartment, there’s no point in spending the extra money to get a full-motion mount because you don’t need a full-motion mount.
Instead, save money by going for a fixed or tilting mount.
TV Size and Weight
This is fairly obvious but of course, you want the mount you get to be able to support the size and weight of your TV.
Otherwise, what really is the point?
You can look up the specifications of your TV online to find out its size and weight.
Once you’ve found that out, you can start to look for the appropriate mount.
When it comes to compatibility, you need to look at the VESA standards.
VESA standards were developed so that both TV manufacturers and TV mount manufacturers are on the same page regarding the distances between the mounting holes.
It’s a system that was developed so that consumers also have an easier time finding a mount that’s appropriate for whatever TV they have.
To find out the VESA pattern of your TV, you should:
Turn it over and measure the distance between the mounting holes in the back with a measuring tape. Make sure that you make these measurements in millimeters (mm).
Once you’ve identified the VESA pattern of your television, you can start to browse the market for a mount that supports that specific VESA pattern.
The type of mount you get is largely dictated by what your needs are.
Do you want the mount for a large room with tons of different viewing angles? Or do you need it for a small, cramped room with only a single viewing angle?
Depending on the answers to these questions, you can get a mount that provides a ton of motion or a mount that provides limited to no motion at all.
Full-motion mounts, articulating mounts, and swivel mounts provide a great range of movement. They are great for larger rooms, party spaces, restaurants, offices, etc.
Fixed and tilting mounts provide little to no motion at all. They are great for smaller spaces where you usually just sit in a single place and watch.
